In this fascinating two-day course we will examine and learn from the works of Hollywood’s most respected and successful directors as well as some of the most talented UK producer/directors. We will teach you: A Director’s role and responsibilities; Production Management; A brief history of Directing; Interpreting Scripts and Storyboards; Concept development; Casting; Location Scouting; Cinematography basics; Shot sizes, angles, transitions and movements; Utilising jibs, cranes, gimbals and drones; Lighting Techniques; Sound recording and design; Utilising and positioning multiple cameras; Using jibs, cranes, gimbals and drones; Crossing the line; Colour Theory; Communication with crew and cast; Getting the best performance; Rehearsals; Directing the shoot; Camera Movement; Understanding Editing; Using Visual effects.

Although you may have conducted many job-related interviews in the past, interviewing for camera requires a whole new set of skills. You now have the responsibility to ensure that your interviewee looks great, gives their best performance, succinctly delivers the most interesting comments and maintains the interest of the viewer. In this course we will cover on-camera and off-camera techniques including:How to prepare for the interview; Preparing the right questions; Selecting the right people to interview;Prepping the interviewee; Choosing the best environment; What the interviewee should and shouldn’t wear; Making the interviewee feels comfortable and at ease; Ensuring the best performance; Maintaining eye contact; Avoiding interruptions; Representing the viewer; Camera angles and positions; Getting the correct eye line. After discussing the theory all delegates will get a chance to practise their new skills.
